We had a most xciting evening last night- went out to BAM theatre at Brooklyn to see the ABT (American Ballet Theatre) production of The Nutcracker. The production was novel, dancers delightful- especially the leads- and the cute kids stayed in character throughout!; music was beautiful, costumes were exquisite, theatre lit up in Holiday ribbons and bows. I really missed you as I could just imagine your delight!
Today we took the train down to lower Manhattan and wandered around Greenwich village for a couple of hours (till the rain dampened our enthusiasm!). After some exploration (I don't think either of us are natural map readers!) we found Washington Square and NYU. Lots of tourists around- I think the locals are wise and stay indoors in cold weather. However the buildings are very historic down there- pretty too as the old feel of the neighbourhood hasn't been wrecked by multi-story redevelopment.
Unfortunately, the rain set in before we had a chance to explore the High Line- which is apparantly very pretty.
